Why was William Harrison famous?
William Harrison was famous as the ninth President of the United States of America and is remembered as the first President to die in office serving just for 32 days. The next US President was John Tyler.

  1773Born on February 9, 1773 in Charles City County, Virginia. He came from a prominent political family who lived on the Berkeley Plantation, the traditional home of the Harrison family.
He was well educated and attended the University of Pennsylvania.
 
     
  1775–83The American Revolution, the American War of Independence, led by George Washington was fought between Great Britain and thirteen British colonies in North America, and ended in a global war between several European great powers. 
     
  1795William Harrison married Anna Tuthill Symmes, they had 10 children, 9 of whom lived into adulthood 
     
  1798Secretary of Northwest Territory, 1798 
     
  1799-1801Territorial Delegate to Congress, 1799-1801 
     
  1801-13Territorial Governor of Indiana, 1801-13 
     
  1812The War of 1812 which has also been called the second War for Independence, between the United States and Great Britain 
     
  1816-19U.S. Congressman from Ohio, 1816-19 
     
  1817 - 1818He fought in the First Seminole War when American slave owners travelled to Spanish Florida in search of runaway African slaves and Seminole Indians who had been trading weapons with the British in the War of 1812. 
     
  1823James Monroe implemented the Monroe Doctrine in 1823 which declared against foreign colonization or intervention in the Americas.

  1828-29Minister to Colombia, 1828-29 
     
  1835 - 1836The Texas Revolution (October 2, 1835 – April 21, 1836) which included the famous Battle of the Alamo. Texas settlers from the United States to join the Texan Army which defeated the Mexican Army 
     
  1838More than 15,000 Cherokee Indians were forced to march from Georgia to Oklahoma Indian Territory. Approximately 4,000 died from starvation and disease along the “Trail of Tears.” 
     
  1841He became the 9th President of America in 1841 and served just for 32 days 
     
  1841William Harrison gave his inaugural address in freezing snow without adequate clothing that led to his death from pleurisy & pneumonia. He died within a month on April 4, 1841 in Washington D.C.
